SARs - GreggReturn to index of stories... |
Two journalists scheduled for our Friday edition of Outlook called in sick today. And that got us to thinking - Have you noticed lately that when anyone talks about being ill - someone always jokes that it could be SARS? Chalk it up to gallows humor. After all, it's obvious that Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome is no laughing matter. On Monday, New Hampshire officials plan to outline how the state is preparing should someone come down with SARS. New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg - who chairs the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee - told Outlook that SARS is a worldwide epidemic. The World Health Organization has extended its recomendation to postpone all but essential travel to include Beiing and Shanxi Province in China Toronto Canada. |
Lieberman Return to index of stories... |
The opportunities to meet and greet democratic presidential candidates were there this week in New Hampshire. Over the weekend, North Carolina Sen. John Edwards will be making the rounds with one stop scheduled Saturday at the Cheshire County Democrats Annual Spaghetti Dinner. Friday, Massachusetts Senator John Kerry made several stops on the seacoast and will attend the Carroll County Democrats Annual Grover Cleveland Dinner. And on Monday, Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman became the first of the candidates to appear at the New Hampshire breakfast forum known as Politics and Eggs. Lieberman told New Hampshire business leaders that President Bush's tax cuts would do little to jumpstart the nation's economy. The democratic presidential hopeful outlined some of what he would do. |
